This is nothing to do with moving your websites around it is simply being able to view your website on a mobile telephone, Not many ( and I mean very few) actually deal with mobile telephones in the design and layout, which of course makes the photographers site impossible to display, navigate and use.
It is important to also note that Mobile web searching is growing and accounts for MOST of todays Internet searches.
Targeted website -
Photographer need to look at targeted websites to deliver websites to their client and target markets. As part of the camera buyers guide I went out and bought an affordable camera from the local supermarket, there were a small range of cameras averaging mainly around the £70-£120 mark, So like all shoppers I went for the cheapest camera or sorts, but with some insight into the limitation posted by the brand name bottom market cameras.

I paid around £55.00 for this 12 MP Camera knowing that there were going to be some issues with such a high pixel count on a PAS camera. Also as a virtually unknown brand which has been around for many years and not many peoples first choice.
Why did I pick this camera:
For obvious reasons really, I don’t like the cannon cameras images, they didn’t sell any Nikon digital cameras and Budget Fuji Cameras aren’t good, also knowing the reliability of Sony I went for this AFGAPHOTO camera, it was also the cheapest they had by a few pence.
I already have DSLR cameras and wanted something small to go into my pocket when I am out, so it makes sense to have a cheap camera.
The down side of owning DSLR cameras is that you are spoilt when it comes to image quality which you simply don’t get from a PAS camera.
Like to like difference between SLR and PAS:
To understand fully the difference between a SLR and a point and shoot camera, you do need to look at the proof to really see the difference in the picture quality.
I happen to have a Nikon D50 6mp DSLR camera, which is targeted at the amateur who is looking to take the next step in digital photography. The Nikon D50 is aimed at the lower end of the market and should give you some clear idea and a more like for like comparison for the photographs I am about to show you.

DSLR

AGFAPhoto DC2030B
As you can see the image difference is vast. The DSLR took the image and was tinted by the light, which is more my fault, as I set the camera at like for like settings to give the best comparison, with that in mind you can look at the detail; The DSLR is 6mp set to fine and the AGFA PHOTO DC2030b is set to 12mp Super fine.
For those of you who cannot see the obvious difference you will see the SLR has far more detail in the picture and is over all sharper, you will also see slight noise in the 2030b’s picture.
Next in the comparative is of a photo shot on my Professional DSLR camera and displayed on my screens, I will show the Pro cameras picture followed by the Nikon and then the Agfa camera so that you can see the difference in the dynamic range and image quality, I’m sure the images dynamic range will show more so in the picture sets, keep an eye on my daughters face.

Professional SLR

Nikon D50

Agfaphoto 2030b
As you can see the Nikon seems to manage a better take on this reproduction, but it is important to take into consideration that no camera could take a like for like of an original image displayed on a screen.
As you can see the AGFA dynamic range is poor, there the face side becomes almost black and the back ground and foreground lighting is too dark in the back and too light in the front, you will also notice a little colour wash out in the Agfaphoto’s camera.
Notably the cooling of the image is due to the screen and not the camera which is measuring the light correctly.
Overall image quality:
Overall for a PAS camera the image quality is pretty good, the images are a little soft and the lens is a little bit slow, but I was surprised by the cameras good quality even with no flash and relative low light performance. The lens s F3-5.6 which is a little slow, and I think some of the money has gone into the cameras tech rather than the lens.
For just image quality I would give 3 out of 5.
Its a little soft and blur/pixelated for my liking, it is better than some camera I have seen and could be compares to a Sony PAS camera for the quality, so nothing really wrong here. It does well with image noise also which is a must for most people and is what I would expect from this type /price camera if not a little more costly.
Build quality:
Is a nice weight, light cameras tend to lend themselves to blur though the camera has anti shake, it doesn’t make much difference to me. My only concern is the memory card cover, it does seem as it could break for those with heavy hands and it is a little flidly if you got big fingers. the camera feels more quality than cheap rubbish which you would find in camera around this price and higher.
4 out of 5
The quality of the camera is pretty good overall, the down side is the memory card door which could have been designed better, but for those who will just leave the card in the slot then it is fine.. I always use my Memory card reader, which is why I notice it so much.
Function:
The marketing leads me to believe that there are other function and modes available on the camera, 27 or something like that, but to be honest there is not that many on the function button which give you more basic selection of choices which is probably more use to most people. I think they get this number by its settings, which include pixel settings on each mode and things that don’t really matter.
You get: Auto, Portrait, Smile, Program, Landscape and Backlight.
There is another menu under record mode which gives you more preset modes, but I fail to see the difference in many of them, but having not tested in the camera out fully, there may be some subtle differences which may make a difference to colours and focal points (soft focus).
there is no panoramic for landscapes so that you can over lap the images to give you an extra wide photo.
There is a smile function which doesn’t seem to know when you are or are not smiling.
Also the focal points I managed to get from the camera (face recognition) came up with two points for focus.
The auto focus seems to be a little off, as you zoom it finds it hard to focus (in low light) and also cant seem to get up close and personal unless it is in Marco mode.
Slightly different to most cameras the SF light (helps the camera focus in low light) is orange and really stands out to me..
Function 4 out of 5
It works takes pictures pretty easy, the camera isn’t slow, it can take a little time to write the images to the card, but its not that slow if you consider vivitars slow write speed in a lot of their cameras, though some are faster, I would say that it is a little quicker that my daughters Nikon L10 digital camera.
Flash:
I found the flash pretty good over all, the flash function has a number of settings, auto forced and SL as well as off, the camera performed well but when using forced it was a little too hard. Over all it is well balanced unlike other cheap cameras which tend to give too much flash and over power the picture taking away colour and detail.
Flash gets 4 out of 5
It is pretty good well balanced in the main and therefore is good in comparison to other camera in the price bracket – £50-£100.
Whats in the box:
Well it comes with a USB cable, a quick start manual a Manual (with CD manual as well) a case and strap, pretty basic stuff, there are no batteries so you will need some AA batteries for the camera.
There is no editing software included, which is quite common (well was last time I bought a cheap camera) but with many free applications, it can be forgiven, and this maybe where some costs were cut.
5 out of 5 for the box content.
It may not have software but you can down load it, it comes with a case for the camera which I think it more important and you also get the mini USB cable rather than having to buy one which can be costly.
Final word, good value for money..

National Photographer is a photography business and also offers photography training and advice, Often there are many people who are looking at buying a digital camera or upgrading and even photographers converting from Film cameras to digital for the first time.
This Buyers guide to Digital cameras will be a little technical for those who want to know the details to make a more informed choice when buying there digital camera and I will also address some of the myths.
Digital cameras an over view:
Digital cameras are electronic devices with a diode that captures light as a replacement to film cameras that used a chemical reaction to record the light, Early Digital cameras had around 3 MP and now you can buy a top of the line Digital Large format camera with in excess of 72 Mega pixels.
Much the same as 35mm film cameras the Digital camera is designed for easy use for all, the main call for digital cameras in the home was the simple and easy production of images with out a processing lab to develop the film, this was replaced by the more common uptake of computers in most homes and the ease of plug and play.
Digital cameras had always had an issue with the dynamic range in the production of images that were true to life. The Dynamic range was the sensors ability to capture the highlights and the low lights in a image. This therefore meant that you would lose detail in over 60% of your image in exchange for the ease of producing images in seconds rather than weeks where film cameras were concerned.
Compact cameras are usually designed to be easy to use, sacrificing advanced features and picture quality for compactness and simplicity. Compact cameras are designed to be small and portable and are particularly suitable for casual and “snapshot” use, thus are also called point-and-shoot camera as they have little input from the person taking the photo. – you will notice I do not say photographer as a photographers work is more than pushing a button.
Digital cameras can do things film cameras cannot which speeds things along, and digital cameras can display images on a screen immediately after they are recorded, storing thousands of images on a single small memory device, recording video with sound, and deleting images to free up storage space to take more pictures.
The concept of digitising images on scanners, and the concept of digitising video signals, predate the concept of making still pictures by digitising signals from an array of discrete sensor elements. At Philip’s Labs. in New York, USA Edward Stupp, Pieter Cath and Zsolt Szilagyi filed for a patent on “All Solid State Radiation Imagers” on Sept. 6, 1968 and constructed a flat screen target for receiving and storing an optical image on a matrix composed of an array of photo-diodes connected to a capacitor to form an array of two terminal devices connected in rows and columns, a US patent was granted on Nov. 10, 1970..
This is where the preview screen is shown on the backs of many digital cameras today, or is known as Live view for DSLR’s.
The first consumer camera with a liquid crystal display (LCD) on the back was the Casio QV-10 in 1995.
The first recorded attempt at building a digital camera was in 1975 by Steven Sasson, an engineer at Eastman Kodak. It used the then-new solid-state CCD image sensor chips developed by Fairchild Semiconductor in 1973. The camera weighed 8 pounds (3.6 kg), recorded black and white images to a cassette tape, had a resolution of 0.01 mega-pixels (10,000 pixels), and took 23 seconds to capture its first image in December 1975.

How do you look after your treasured photos?
How do store the images for customers after there photo session?
What is the best way to store digital photos from photo shoots and weddings?
Many photographers now shoot digital and this means that they have to keep the images safe, with digital images on a computer the images are subject to lose from viruses, hardware and software failures that can lead to all of the photographs being lost.
There are many ways where you can back up your data and photos, but is it the right option for you and your photos? We offer a cost effective and safe way to back up your data and photos keeping them safe.
All data (photos) are NOT safe when they are kept at the same location, this is due to fire risk.
NAS (network storage) and Plugged in(fixed) Hard drives are susceptible to electric surges and viruses.
False back ups can account for data lose such as Raid +1, RAID+1 copies the content of one disc to another, this only protects against hardware failure of the disc’s only, it does copy any viruses to the other disc, it is susceptible to surges
RAID 0+1 offers the same false backup as when one of the strip (two physical drives making one) the data is lost for the two and can corrupt the +1 array or one of the +1 arrays can fail. This is within the tolerances of most back up systems and therefore acceptable to many people. However the fire risk remains.
How to make a back up system that works.
One of the most effective ways of storing photographs safely is with off site back up which is carried out on-line from a service provider.
This can be costly as you are charged per gigabyte per month basis and as you know file sizes are growing and therefore the cost of storage will also grow.
The benefits are that if you have a fire your images are not effected and most professional services have halon gas to suppress fires as well as multi floor and back up systems of there own.
Affordable back up which doesn’t effect your network, Internet connection and is handy in general is the National Photographer Back up pack’s.
As professional consultants for the IT industry, we know that backing up data is important and cost is important to allow photographer to remain competitive in today’s market, We selected this combination of packages to back up your photographic data with ease.

With stock photography we all know that for every image, magazine, book cover, and marketing campaign there is a need for the images to accompany the content of the article.
Stock photographers may be shooting images of flowers to be placed on seed bags, to photography of day to day items, this may seem like there is an endless need for fresh photo’s and new photographs but often there are many photographers who will sell the same images for many years.
Getty Images and Corbis are the two largest traditional stock photography agencies in terms of revenue from stock photography and they offer mostly photographs that have been shot by professional photographers.
There are many alternative stock photo agencies which enable amateur and professional photographers to offer their photographs for sale.
Images are filed at an agency that negotiates licensing fees on the photographer’s behalf in exchange for a percentage, or in some cases owns the images outright.
Pricing is determined by size of audience or readership, how long the image is to be used, country or region where the images will be used and whether royalties are due to the image creator or owner.
Often, an image can be licensed for less than £200, or in the case of the microstock photography websites as little as £1 for a low resolution license.
http://www.photographersdirect.com is a photographic portal to help picture buyers and researchers find suitable stock photos for any media. In response to the enormous changes that have taken place in the photo business in the past few years, Photographers Direct have pioneered the concept of “Fair Trade Stock Photography”.
The photographers receive 80% of the sale price of their images (through an agency they normally receive 50%, through sub-agencies they may receive as little as 8% of the sale price!).
Photographers have greater control over the submission of images to clients by being able to select the requests, often this can be tendering for the image sale and prices are shown upfront.
Quality is every thing.
With stock photography quality and resolution is everything, many stock photo agents will not sell images under 3000 pixels as the image need to be printed at a usable size, this is why professionals use SLR cameras for their high quality images over the smaller CCD images of a point and shoot camera.
The agents will look at blur or soft images which will be disregarded on this basis, no matter the quality (technical) the image has.
Out of the box or inside the box
With fashion and trends the need of the photographer to understand the concept of the client is greatly important as to the style of the photo and market that the image is intended.
Wedding photographers may know the difference between contemporary photography styles over traditional photography and the same will be taken into account with the use of the image, contemporary companies may want to paint a modern image to sell a product that is new and fresh and not seen before, the “seen in a new light” would apply here; more traditional companies may want to hold onto old values and traditions to sell there products.
Most of the time if you were not selling stock but were commissioned to carry out the photography, you would speak to the art director to fully understand the remit and requirements for the image, your job then would be to conceptualise these into a set of images.
To illustrate a point in photography, here are some images of a well known landmark that have been taken in a number of view points.

Looking at these images you can see there there is a large difference in how the concept ” take a picture of Westminster tower”. Of course this subject is often misunderstood as “big Ben” and often photographers will misunderstand the requirements of the photograph, which of course if the request was for Big Ben, then the photograph should be of the Bell, that of course is what Big Ben is and not Westminster Tower.
Let us take a look at the images, from the top image through to the bottom image and see how the concept and use may differ for each of the images.
The First image is a close up of the Bell tower and the clock, this may be submitted for articles (requests) on the west minster clock, the bell tower at Westminster, Clocks, Famous clocks, London land marks. You can see that the tower is not straight in the image.
When taking an image of a subject it is thoughtful to allow for the textual content for the articles, In this image there is a top right areas for content to be added or extending the sky to the left of the image for more textual content.
The second image shows a worms eye view of the tower, it is also tilted and there for not of much use to anyone, if the images was taken at perhaps a angle showing more of the clock face, was straight and did not show the tops of the rails (or showed more) then the image would be more interesting and useful, maybe targeted toward children.
This Third image shows a more contemporary image of the tower and its setting with the inclusion of the crown iron work and rail showing in the image, the image also shows the full tower and allows for textual content along the left side of the image, as many people read left to right, this is more fitting in its marketing concept and consideration.
The fourth and final image shows a more traditional image, it is a tourist image of the tower taken through open gates, the only advantage of this image is that the gate may not always be open and therefore may be an image that is not often available or seen and therefore may hold some value.
When submitting stock photographs, you should take into account that your view and their view of what they are looking for and what makes the best image will differ, it is also worth submitting a number of images taken in a number of ways to give you the best opportunity to meet the clients requirements.
National Photographer’s Photography training often as a starting point for photographers will ask for a number of images of a single subject to establish the photographer’s creativity when taking photos and to assess the training requirements.
National Photographer’s Stock photography is based on Consultations and commissions from our other service company Grafixphoto
We invite professional photographer members of City photography and National Photographer to submit images for commissions and stock as active members of National photographer.
While surfing the net we came across a website offering FREE Flash websites for photographers.
The website offers an on-line editor to allow photographers to design their website based on a range of modern template designs, they do also offer designs for most other businesses, so you may find a site that suits your requirements outside of the photographer remit.
We only took a brief look at the services which were offered; There is Free hosting from a company called Wix, It may be worth looking at for the bandwidth limitations which normally follows free hosting, and you wouldn’t want to have a restricted access website if you are a popular photographer with a popular website.

You have to be a member and sign up for the service, therefore it could be the usual data mining website type which could mean that you could end up with lots of promotional emails (spam) it would be a good idea to enlist the use of a second email account from a public service to allow you some safe guard against spam data mining businesses.
Other than the two issues or possible issues that I have mentioned, it seems to be a good idea and service, but we do recommend that you do check out the service terms and conditions and what is being offered.
You can visit the website on this link to look for yourself:

National Photographer runs a number of groups on social networks, Facebook is a lively website were reports are coming in of the growth of social network searches, meaning that not everyone is using the major search engines such as yahoo, bing and Google to find what they are looking for.
Clearwell castle is a wedding venue based in Gloucestershire, though many may consider Clearwell castle as a wedding venue in South Wales due to its location. This can mean that there could be issues with non local clients not finding the correctly named website and seo’d website for the Clearwell wedding venue.
Our Clearwell castle Facebook group is open to photographers that have been to the venue and taken wedding photos in a professional capacity to show off their work at the venue and also to link back to their own wedding photography websites.
Also if photographer are making videos (slide shows) of weddings that they have undertaken and maybe publicly available these can also be published in the groups page.
Photographers are invited to write reviews on their experience and also comment in the groups to assist clients who are considering Clearwell castle as their wedding venue.
As we do manage the group, we have placed links to our own wedding venue specific website to benefit our member photographers and clients who will be getting married at Clearwell castle.
